How to choose the correct shade of red lipstick

We all know Tay loves to rock a red lip and does it amazingly, but we sometimes find it hard to find the right shade of red that suits us and our skin tone (I feel like crying when I try to pick out a red lipstick, it's so hard but it's now made easier .. yaaay!)
Firstly you need to figure out your skintone, and when that's done you can go figure out which shade suits you the best.
Porcelain: If you have porcelain skin avoid glossy lips, matte compliments the skin best. For light hair choose a orange-red matte to draw focus to the lips, for darker hair stick with a pinker matte.
Fair skin: The best shade to suit fair skin is either a bold red or a dark plum colour. If you're wearing blush a bolder red shade will compliment your cheeks. Make sure to avoid orange-red lipstick.
Dark skin: If you have dark skin I would advise leaning towards a deep red to purple colour. If you want your lips to stand out apply a thick gloss. If you want to achieve even more of a pop line your lips or apply a lipstick 2 shades darker.
Light brown: Shades that suit best for this skin tone are dark plums or dark reds. Try to stick to a matte lipstick and avoid using a gloss.
Bronze skin: This skin type can just about sport any shade of lipstick. For an big pop of colour try a bright red or for a casual daytime look sport a dark pink colour.

Hints&Tips
  • Take the colour of your lips into account to and not just your skintone.
  • Seek the advice of a make up artist
  • Test the lipstick before you buy it!
